This has to be hands down one of my favorite instore commercial organic hair products. As a vegan naturalist (hair wise), we constantly advocate the benefits of using clay based hair washes in place of shampoo. This purification masque is based in Kaolin Clay. Other includes are Plantain enzymes, tea tree oil and willow bark extract. I could smell a hint of coconut in the mixture and it does indeed have that as an ingredient as well. Many of Shea Moisture’s products swear by coconut oil so it’s kind of like a staple ingredient for them. This one in particular is suppose to help treat dandruff, eczema and psoriasis.
What is Kaolin Clay
Kaolin clay, a white powder that has excellent absorbent qualities. These qualities are used to withdraw impurities and toxins, thereby clears the skin of excess oil, dirt, and pollutants. Kaolin clay stimulates the organic processing of the skin, mineral-izing the skin as it would naturally.
What is Black Soap
African black soap is rich in naturally occurring vitamins E and A and antioxidants. Also known to as black soap, it is made from harvested and sun dried palm leaves, plantain skins, cocoa pod powder, other highly nutritious oils and natural butters that include shea butter, coconut oil, and kernel oil. After dried, the collection is then roasted in a clay oven and turned in to ash. The roasting process creates very dark brown, black content with black specs throughout. Water is added to the ashes to make a paste. The mixture is then filtered and molded into pieces of soap.
Conclusion
You take the mixture and apply it evenly to areas you are treating. You then leave it on anywhere from 5-30 minutes. I would say the longer you leave it on, the more impurities will be absorbed and removed. You may even have other things removed you have not intended, but it depends on your hair. You then rinse the product out and begin to feel your hair to assess how it has either helped or not helped your hair. I say the product is a real winner. It leaves the hair clean and smooth, but not dry. Dryness is the enemy of hair and this product sure isn’t a soldier in the army of General Dryness. I will continue to use this product until they stop making it or I find one a lot better. I simply can not give this anything below “five seeds of life”. The best online price has been found!
